discos juandó en el Cabaret Elèctric

Perdón por publicar esto un poco tarde. El pasado jueves, Discos Juandó y yo como representante único, aparecimos en el programa Cabaret Elèctric de Catalunya Ràdio. El programa que dirige Montse Virgili tiene una sección en la que van a tiendas de discos para que el dueño escoja y comente un disco de la tienda. Una muy buena idea en la que colaboré encantado. De la cubeta de nuevas entradas escogí el lp de The Visitors, en Muse. Hacía mucho tiempo que no escuchaba un disco de jazz espiritual tan bueno como este y me pareció perfecto para el programa. Gràcies !!

discos de madera y gramofonía lúdica

Una vez más ha tenido que ser Anki Toner el que me muestra nuevas caras del mundo gramofónico. Aviso: me estoy pasando al lado oscuro a marchas forzadas.

DISCOS DE MADERA

En un post anterior, si no recuerdo mal haciendo memoria del disco de chocolate de hace ya más de un año, ya advertía de mi creciente gusto e interés sobre las diferentes formas y usos del soporte discográfico y la gramofonía en general, que en muchos más casos de los que parece rozan o entran de lleno en el arte conceptual. La colaboración entre Xocoa y Discos Juandó me abrió nuevas puertas, hasta darme cuenta enseguida que el disco de chocolate quedaba en ridículo comparado con lo que iba a empezar a descubrir (surcos cruzados, discos sin centro, discos de reproducción aleatoria, discos de hielo, en fin, arte en disco). Nuevas puertas que abren otras puertas, el cerebro a mil por hora. Un nuevo ejemplo me lo pasa Anki en forma de link: discos de madera. Me atraen desde hace un tiempo las postales sonoras (surcos cortados sobre postales ordinarias de base cartón, de las de enviar por correo), pero sobre madera … El proceso que Amanda Ghassaei describe en el artículo es interesantísimo y el resultado sencillamente genial.

GRAMOFONÍA LÚDICA .

Estamos de acuerdo en que las sensaciones que uno siente viendo un video en internet son unas, y otra cosa muy distinta es experimentarlo la realidad física ante tus ojos. Mucha gente ha visto el vídeo del disco de chocolate en youtube pero muy pocos lo han visto funcionando físicamente, y muchos menos han tenido el placer de la acción total: pinchar el disco y comerlo después. De manera que las cosas más sorprendentes que se ven en vídeo quedan en la memoria durante un tiempo muy limitado, y en cambio las sensaciones físicas marcan a fuego (en el caso del disco de chocolate, tocar la textura, verlo girar en un plato, escuchar lo grabado, y finalmente probarlo). Hasta finales de julio, muy cerca de Barcelona, teneis la oportunidad de ver algo físico que os sorprenderá más que cualquier vídeo que hayais visto sobre el tema, si alguna vez habeis visto alguno.

Anki Toner es el comisario de la exposición Gramofonia Lúdica. Discs/Jocs/Atzar en el Espai Cultura de Sabadell, que muestra ejemplos de la muy desconocida relación entre discos y juegos de mesa. Ever since I was a teenager, I remember myself being passionate with the 60′s music and its culture in general. I was very young when I first saw the shape of 45 record. It was love at first sight! I’ve started as a DJ at 17 and played music in lots of well known clubs in my town and in Greece as well. Since then, I’ve been a mighty collector of rare 45′s and mainly collecting original vinyls . From the moment I’ve started earning my own money, it was the time I became a serious collector, interested only in originals 45′s. I mostly collect singles based on two of my favorites passions; the 60′s R&B/Mod/Popcorn/Northern Soul sounds, and the US-European 60′s Garage/Psych sounds and of course the Greek 60′s singles! In the mid 80′s, I established, with two fellows, one of the first ”record mail orders” in Greece selling vinyl records all around the country and abroad, too. Furthermore, in the late 90′s, I was broadcasting on a local radio for ten years in a row. I spin my 45′s on various dance floors urged by my desire to play my fave sounds to people who have the same passion as me. As a DJ, my main concern is to provide a continuous dance beat to entice more people on the dance floor playing known and mainly unknown records that I discover from time to time.This time, I will be in lovely Barcelona at the famous and unique Boiler Club, after being invited by Cristina and Jordi. I would like to share my passion with all the fans who are going to be there. Here are a few fave rhythms you can expect to hear from me.

BRUNO JEREZ (FRA)

Before being a DJ I am a Soul 60s vinyl collector. I’ve started to collect soul vinyl when I was 15. My first trip in the US was in 82, during the last 30 years I have travelled across the USA and have accumulated thousands of soul vinyl. What I like the most is when I grab my car at the airport, at this time I know that I am in the soul mine for digging records. Then when I am back in Paris I like to share this passion, enjoy the music with friends (with a nice bottle of wine) and as a DJ. I have been in touch with the Mod scene & Popcorn scene during the 70s & 80s. Nowadays my target is to revitalize the French Northern Soul Scene in Paris. With 3 friends we are running “Paris Magic City Northern Soul” quarterly events in Paris. In a few months I move to New York for some years and I trust I will continue to enjoy my passion with the local soulies! What I like to spin is quality Rhythm & Soul/Northern Soul even if I have R&B, Boogaloo, Jazz-Groove in my collection. I have three passions in my life, enjoying mediterranean food with my wife, having babies (with my wife as well) and collecting records. I think Jordi and Cristina just want me to tell you about the last one though. Well, I’ve been collecting for almost fourty years now, being focused in the last decade in afroamerican artists, mainly on 45 format.During the last few years I’ve had the pleasure of spinning records on most of the spanish rallies and clubs (euro yeye, beat goes on, forum, s.m.a.r.t club, boosters, gran guateque to name a few), also recently abroad, in France and Italy. I’m very pleased of being invited for the first time to undeniably one the best clubs around Europe, even more honoured being part of a terrific line-up (cheers Bruno and Costas!). While I mostly spin 60s r&b and soul, this time though you may expect from me a little more early r&b and black r’n’r, also some extra latin soul and boogaloo as well as a little of my usual sounds. En las fotos y videos del Record Store Day en Discos Juandó, se veían paredes rosas y marrones. Aún están pero se ven menos, porque los discos van cubriendo las paredes y la cosa ya se va pareciendo a la tienda de discos a la que estamos acostumbrados. La caja de nuevas entradas está ansiosa por recuperar la rotación habitual, así que sacaré una lista en breve con algunas cosas interesantes.

De vuelta de Bamberg me encuentro en el correo una foto que me envía Martinez Preacher de los Hitbacks, tomada el día del Record Store Day. Una perspectiva diferente del cartel de la entrada que está realizando Pablo Schenkel y que da una nueva visión de … todo. Gracias !

atención ! 3-6 mayo BAMBERG SoulShakers weekender

Este fin de semana está colgado el primer cartelito ‘out of the office’ de la temporada en la persiana el nuevo local de Discos Juandó. Hay una buena razón: el weekender anual Soul Shakers en Bamberg, Alemania. Lo mejor del mundo mundial en cuanto a rare soul se refiere, y con permiso del Movin’ On weekender de diciembre. De manera que la tienda estará cerrada desde el viernes 3 al lunes 6, inclusive. Y, por cierto, los buscadores de discos no se quedarán huérfanos ese finde, porque hay la Feria Intenacional de Discos de Barcelona en la Estació del Nord. Todos contentos.
